Submitting

Overflow welcomes book submissions conforming to our purpose of publishing entertaining books for significantly educated readers.  Please email a query for fiction, or a proposal for nonfiction, along with a CV.

Though Overflow publishes moderately to broadly accessible books, we require that all perspective authors have published at least one specialized volume in their academic field of expertise.  In the hard sciences where professional publication typically means articles, the publication requirement will be modified on a case by case basis. 

 

Agents

We welcome agented submissions, but the fact that an author has an agent does not excuse the requirement of having at least one academic book published and findable in university libraries.   

 

Anonymity

Overflow is sensitive to the fact that professors are paid for doing academic work, and may want to publish general interest titles anonymously, or under a pen name.  Authors should be sensitive to the fact that our marketing works best when leveraging the author’s academic credentials. So it's a problem, but we can work around it.
